Allori Guido

Guido Allori works in Capoliveri, on the tip of Elba overlooking the Livorno sea, within the region's most extensive denomination: Toscano IGT, which embraces 273 municipalities. This is a very broad framework, and precisely in this breadth lies the producer's freedom, allowing him to move among the canonical traditional grape varieties—Sangiovese, Trebbiano Toscano, and Canaiolo Nero—without the tight constraints of a restricted denomination. From this triad, Allori produces white, red, and rosé wines, each with a minimum alcohol content of 11%, thus covering the entire chromatic palette of still wine. The insularity adds a variable that the broad perimeter of the IGT does not erase: the soils and climate of Elba impart an accent that distinguishes these wines from continental versions of the same regulations. Operating within such a vast framework does not mean dispersing efforts, but choosing which terroirs to let speak. Allori thus interprets one of Italy's broadest protected origins from a precise and secluded vantage point, that of an island looking at the coast from afar.
