AMELIO LIVIO Soc. Agricola Semplice

Three Piedmontese denominations, all in the DOCG category, define the scope of Amelio Livio. For Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, the company works within the narrowest area—only seven municipalities delimit the type—for structured reds with at least 12.5% alcohol. In the Terre Alfieri territory, the register splits between Arneis for whites and Nebbiolo-based reds, while Barbera d'Asti opens up to the opposite side, that of a vast denomination. The latter encompasses 165 municipalities and requires a minimum of four months of aging for the wines to develop their complexity. The winery thus moves between extremes of scale: from the almost intimate handkerchief of Ruchè to the breadth of Barbera, bringing together different grape varieties and styles under a single discipline. It is the portrait of a producer who does not pursue a single stylistic identity but traverses Monferrato in its various expressions, adapting their hand to the character of each area without flattening them into a single model. Consistency, here, lies in respecting differences.
