Angelo Gibilisco

In Siracusa, Angelo Gibilisco dedicates his work to a single protected fruit, the Limone di Siracusa IGP, which ripens across ten municipalities in the province along the island's southeastern coast. The variety is Femminello, a symbolic cultivar of this part of Sicily, capable of re-flowering multiple times throughout the year. This peculiarity gives rise to a three-stage harvesting calendar: the autumn Primofiore, the winter Bianchetto, and the summer Verdello—three faces of the same citrus, marked by the seasons. This rotation ensures continuous availability and yields fruits with remarkable richness of juice, a characteristic that has made the Siracusan lemon famous. The result is a portrait of a coastal terroir where a mild climate and careful hand combine: each cycle has its own physiognomy, but all share the imprint of southeastern Sicily, made of light, warmth, and proximity to the sea.
