ANTICO TERRENO OTTAVI S.R.L.

From San Severino Marche, Antico Terreno Ottavi oversees four DOCG denominations, a range that almost entirely narrates the enological geography of Marche. There are the long-aging whites, Verdicchio di Matelica and Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi in Riserva, capable of defying the years; there is the structured red of Cònero, where Montepulciano and Sangiovese demand at least 24 months before release; and there is Vernaccia Nera di Serrapetrona, an indigenous rarity available in both sparkling and still versions. Managing four such diverse disciplines requires careful direction. The Riservas demand minimum aging of 18 months, Cònero requires 24, and each denomination responds to its own microclimate, from the inland hills to the slopes facing the Adriatic. The challenge is not to produce a lot but to correctly interpret each terroir, calibrating vintages and cellar times based on parameters that change from one wine to another. It is a work of precision that makes the company a synthesis of Marche's wine, encompassing long-lived whites and full-bodied reds.
