Apicella Giuseppe

Arancia del Gargano IGPLimone Femminello del Gargano IGP

On the northern promontory of Gargano, Apicella Giuseppe harvests the two protected citrus fruits of the territory: Limone Femminello del Gargano IGP and Arancia del Gargano IGP. Their work focuses on the terraced slopes, where the lemon — in the lustrino and fusillo varieties — develops the intense aromas that distinguish the denomination in this microclimate overlooking the sea. Across three municipalities, small orchards preserve traditional cultivation methods on slopes where mechanization gives way to manual labor. The result is a fruit that bears the mineral signature of the calcareous soils and the mildness of the air tempered by the Mediterranean. It is a hillside citrus cultivation, characterized by manual gestures and small plots, far from large-scale logic. The two IGP denominations tell the story of the same landscape from complementary angles, rooted in the terraced morphology of the promontory and the climate that softens its extremes. A production that defends, fruit after fruit, an ancient way of living on the land.
