Arianna Occhipinti
Vittoria · Province of Ragusa · Sicilia
Arianna Occhipinti's vineyard in Vittoria is rooted along an ancient path that, three millennia ago, connected Gela to Kamarina in southeastern Sicily. Born from a single hectare near the Fossa di Lupo palmento (traditional winery), the estate has expanded to several contrade—Bombolieri, Pettineo, Bastonaca, and others—each with its own geology beneath Vittoria's renowned red soils. The flagship wine is Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG, a blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato, which captures the stratification of limestone, tuff, and gypsum from this territory in a single glass. The project can be seen as a parcel-by-parcel soil mapping, where the differences between the contrade become distinct in the glass rather than being leveled out. It's a way of understanding the denomination as a sum of distinct places, not as a uniform label. The winery welcomes visitors for tastings throughout the year: an opportunity to explore these contrade and recognize their reflection in the Cerasuolo.
