Arpepe draws from the Alpine microclimate of Valtellina, where steep south-facing terraces carved from granite bedrock have sustained Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) for centuries. The winery crafts both Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG and Valtellina Superiore DOCG—the former a concentrated passito and rosso requiring 20 months aging minimum, the latter a structured expression aged 24 months. Sun exposure from dawn to dusk, moderated by fresh northern winds, builds the genetic complexity these mountain wines are known for. Visitors to Sondrio can taste the terroir directly.
