🏡 Tastings & visitsSicilia IGPSicilia DOC

In Comiso, in southeastern Sicily, Avide Vitivinicola operates within the two Sicilia denominations, DOC and IGP. From indigenous grape varieties—Nero d'Avola, Frappato, and others—they produce white, red, and rosé wines, each with a minimum alcohol content of 12%. Alongside the wine, a monovarietal extra virgin olive oil from Tonda Iblea, with a medium-strong fruitiness and notes of green tomato, brings the same volcanic character of the protected area to a different production chain. Wine and oil thus share a single terroir, interpreted through the two versions of the island's denomination. This is not a dispersion of effort: it's an attempt to tell the story of the same Ragusa land with two raw materials. The winery opens its doors for seasonal tastings and with the annual "Bimbi e Vendemmia" (Children and Harvest) festival, hosted at the estate for five years, which links the grape harvest to a shared moment. Those visiting Comiso in the right season can closely follow the winemaking and harvesting, and see how a unique southeastern environment translates into both the glass and the oil.
