Amarone della Valpolicella DOCGRecioto della Valpolicella DOCG

In Negrar di Valpolicella, Le Ragose has overseen thirty-one hectares since 1969, when founder Arnaldo—an oenologist—reclaimed abandoned land with a clear philosophy: quality over quantity. His sons Paolo and Marco have embraced his method, and Marco's 1994 thesis on the micro-vinification of local varieties provided the winery with a foundation that is both experimental and respectful of the territory. Today, across seventeen and a half hectares of vineyards, production revolves around the valley's two appassimento DOCG wines: Amarone della Valpolicella, a dry and powerful red made from dried grapes, and Recioto della Valpolicella, its sweet counterpart, the historical root from which Amarone itself descends. These two denominations share the appassimento technique but diverge in outcome, dry versus sweet. The common thread remains the conscious viticulture inherited from Arnaldo, combined with measured innovation in the cellar: not research for its own sake, but a tool to better understand the indigenous varieties of this Veronese area and express them precisely in the bottle.
