🏡 Tastings & visitsScanzo DOCG

In Scanzorosciate, at the foot of the Bergamasque Prealps, Pagnoncelli Folcieri cultivates a single denomination, and one of Italy's most circumscribed: Scanzo DOCG. Here, volcanic soils and an alpine climate converge around a unique grape variety, Moscato di Scanzo, from which red wines and, above all, passiti (sweet wines made from dried grapes) are born. It is Lombardy's smallest guaranteed denomination area, a handkerchief of a hill that concentrates everything into just a few hectares. The parameters alone tell the story of the wine's character: a minimum aging of twenty-four months and an alcohol content of no less than 17%, thresholds that allow no approximations and demand late harvests and precisely managed drying. The result is wines of unexpected depth for such a small area, where the sweetness is never cloying but held in balance by the mineral texture of the soil. The company welcomes those who wish to understand this miniature geography from the glass: a tasting here is the most direct way to measure how much a single Moscato can convey about an entire territory.
