Cesanese del Piglio DOCG

On the slopes of Monte Scalambra, in Serrone, Az. agr. Rapillo intercepts the Abruzzese winds descending from the highlands: this cool current shapes the microclimate of the vineyards and governs their balance. The fully south-facing parcels receive intense sun on high-density plants, a condition that brings Cesanese di Affile and Cesanese comune to complete phenolic ripeness. From these grapes, a single denomination is born, Cesanese del Piglio DOCG, a red wine that the winery ages for at least four months before bottling. The result is a wine of mineral texture and orderly structure, where the power of the fruit remains contained by a vertical and precise profile. It is an expression that tells the story of the border between Lazio and Abruzzo not as a geographical fact but as a vocation: the mountain air that tempers the heat of the Frosinone plain, yielding a taut Cesanese, less opulent and more articulated than one might expect from these latitudes.
