Limone di Siracusa IGP

On the southeastern side of Noto, in the province of Siracusa, Angelo and Antonietta Caruso cultivate Limone di Siracusa IGP. This is the Femminello, the variety that has made the Siracusan coast recognizable, harvested in three distinct periods throughout the citrus year: the early Primofiore, the pale-skinned Bianchetto, and the more vibrant summer Verdello. The denomination covers ten municipalities along this coastal strip, where the sea air and the volcanic nature of the soil contribute to defining exceptionally juicy fruits. Each flowering yields a different physiognomy of the same lemon, allowing the plant to produce almost all season long without ever losing its terroir identity. From spring to summer, the fruit changes name and hue, but not origin. The family farm's work keeps this continuity alive, preserving both a local agricultural heritage and the reputation of a fruit prized for its aromatic concentration and natural acidity.
