From its base in Pesaro, Sergio Rossi's estate oversees four DOCG denominations among the most recognized areas of Marche, moving methodically between soils and altitudes that change radically from one slope to another. On the Cònero, Montepulciano ages for twenty-four months, yielding structured red wines; in the calcareous hinterland of Matelica, Verdicchio leans towards tension and mineral finesse. Completing the picture is Vernaccia nera, the signature grape of Serrapetrona, capable of presenting itself in both sparkling and still versions, and the second great reserve of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. Managing these denominations together requires transversal mastery, as each terroir demands different cellar choices and a sensitivity that can transition from long-aged whites to reds for cellaring.
