Above Rapallo, where the Ligurian coast quickly ascends towards the mountains, Azienda Agricola Aleppo cultivates steep terraces overlooking the sea. Here, the Taggiasca olive grows on slopes that have shaped the olive oil culture of the Genoese Levante for centuries. The sole denomination championed is Riviera Ligure DOP, which encompasses 186 municipalities along the coastal arc: the resulting oil carries the recognizable sweetness and fruity freshness of the appellation, here translated by the Mediterranean microclimate of Tigullio. This is a small-scale production, dictated by the geometry of the terraces and the challenging terrain, making the single DOP not a fallback choice but a declaration of belonging. It is an oil that asks to be understood as a precise expression of a specific slope — that of Genoa — rather than a product of an anonymous district, and which finds its chosen cultivar in the Taggiasca.
