Azienda Agricola Balbi - Fattoria Il Capitano S.r.l.

Nestled on the slopes separating the Arno from the Sieve, in Pontassieve, Fattoria Il Capitano of Azienda Agricola Balbi cultivates six hectares of vineyards within the Chianti Rufina area, the coolest and highest subzone of the denomination. Over a century of working with Sangiovese has instilled a deep, sedimented knowledge of the slopes and exposures here. The sole denomination, Chianti DOCG, thus becomes the lens through which to interpret the altitude, temperature excursions, and microclimates that impart structure and aging potential to the grape. A family-run estate just a few kilometers from Florence, it cultivates vines and olive trees with organic certification, transforming these very hills into wine and extra virgin olive oil.
