Azienda Agricola Bassan

Pompeiana · Province of Imperia · Liguria

Riviera Ligure DOP

Above Pompeiana, eight kilometers from Sanremo on the western Ligurian Riviera, Azienda Agricola Bassan cultivates five hectares of Taggiasca olives on terraces facing south. Twelve hundred and fifty trees grow at an altitude of two hundred meters, exposed to sea winds and rooted in mineral soils that, harvest after harvest, define the character of the fruit. From this small patch of coast, only one product is born: the extra virgin Riviera Ligure DOP. This is an oil that embraces delicacy—fruity, sweet, without harshness—and defends it by bottling in small batches, ensuring that the varietal signature of the Taggiasca is not lost. The proximity to the French Riviera border is not just a geographical detail but part of the climate that shapes these plants. In the glass, one finds the essence of small-scale Ligurian olive growing, where limited quantity is the very condition of its distinctiveness. An extra virgin that thrives on this balance between sea, altitude, and variety, making that narrow margin its unique language.
