Azienda Agricola Cerri di Barcella Giorgio
Scanzorosciate · Province of Bergamo · Lombardia
Azienda Agricola Cerri di Barcella Giorgio is located in Scanzorosciate, the only municipality permitted by the DOCG Scanzo, in the province of Bergamo: one of Italy's most circumscribed denominations. The work revolves around Moscato di Scanzo, a dark and intensely aromatic grape variety that defines this corner of Lombardy. The winery produces both dry versions and passito, the latter obtained from dried grapes and aged for at least twenty-four months. Each wine reaches an alcohol content of at least seventeen percent, a measure that indicates how much the sugar concentration of the Moscato is pushed and then tamed by long aging times. It is a denomination that rewards patience: the drying process, the slow maturation, the wait for the aroma to settle without becoming tiring. The tiny perimeter of the area makes each bottle an almost precise expression of its terroir, linked to a single municipality and a single grape variety. The winery's work remains focused on this single denomination, cultivated with rigor. It is not open to the public.
