Azienda Agricola Costanza Ignazio
Grotte · Province of Agrigento · Sicilia
Azienda Agricola Costanza Ignazio traces its roots back to 1901, when Pietro Costanza purchased a plot in Grotte, in the province of Agrigento, recognizing its potential. Three generations—his son Ignazio, his grandson Pietro—have guided the winery through the challenges of the twentieth century, including wartime, without breaking the bond with the land. Today's Ignazio continues with two distinct yet complementary protections: Sicilia DOC for wine, vinified with indigenous grape varieties like Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese, and Sicilia IGP for extra virgin olive oil. It's a dual register, that of the vineyard and that of the olive grove, which tells the story of inland Sicily as a territory capable of distinguishing itself on multiple fronts. The long family tradition here is not a narrative flourish, but the method by which a recognizable palate and touch have been built. The winery welcomes guests for tastings: those who arrive in Grotte can taste side-by-side the wines and oils born from the same century of work.
