Limone di Siracusa IGP

In Avola, in southeastern Sicily, Azienda Agricola Davide Dugo cultivates Femminello lemons within the Limone di Siracusa IGP, which delineates ten coastal municipalities. The mineral soil and Mediterranean climate of this stretch of coastline give the plant a rare peculiarity: it fruits multiple times a year, and each flowering brings a different fruit. The calendar unfolds in three stages. The autumnal Primofiore is the most concentrated, with full acidity and aroma; the winter Bianchetto and spring Verdello lighten the profile, each with its own brightness and balance between peel and pulp. Harvesting throughout the year means pursuing the specificity of each seasonal variety instead of homogenizing it. The denomination defines the area and the cultivar, but it is this natural rhythm that gives Limone di Siracusa its identity, where the same citrus fruit changes intensity and character depending on the month it leaves the tree.
