Azienda Agricola Di Cato Francesco

In Vittorito, in the Peligna Valley, Francesco Di Cato has taken up the legacy of a paternal vineyard brought back to life after decades of abandonment, returning to family practices just as his father resumed winemaking. Its location at the foot of the Apennines imparts a signature minerality to the wines, in an area where Montepulciano was born. The winery spans six DOC denominations, a range that covers the entire chromatic and stylistic spectrum of Abruzzo: from the crisp whites of Trebbiano to the structured reds of Montepulciano, passing through Cerasuolo and the more specific areas that complete the picture. Six DOCs for a small estate signify a broad interpretation of the same mountainous territory, expressed in different registers rather than a single characteristic. Visitors to this village discover how vines have sustained the community for centuries, and a visit allows one to explore this range glass by glass, measuring how much variety can be found in just a handful of hectares.
