Azienda Agricola Fontefico

From its base in Vasto, Azienda Agricola Fontefico navigates six protected Abruzzo denominations, all DOC, covering the entire spectrum of regional colors. Montepulciano anchors the reds, Trebbiano the whites, and Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo the rosé made from the same red grape: a few grapes, a single grammar of the territory. The origins are divided between circumscribed areas — Villamagna and Controguerra — and the broader regional denominations, from the generic Abruzzo to Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo. This breadth is held together by a consistent method: fully organic viticulture and exclusively indigenous varieties, with no international incursions. The wines adhere to minimum alcohol levels ranging from 11.5% to 13.0%, depending on the type. The multiplicity of labels is not a dispersion but a map: each denomination fixes a piece of the Abruzzese mosaic. The vineyard is active and open, and visitors to Vasto can taste the full range, from white to red and rosé, directly among the rows.
