In Vernasca, on the hills of Piacenza's wine region, Azienda Agricola Il Casello operates within the Val Tidone IGT, its sole denomination, which extends across nine municipalities in Emilia-Romagna. The winery's project encompasses whites, reds, and sparkling wines, all built on indigenous grape varieties: Malvasia bianca aromatica, Moscato bianco, and Trebbiano romagnolo. This range prioritizes expressive breadth over specialization, with each bottle reaching at least 10.5% alcohol, a standard maintained consistently throughout production. The choice of local grape varieties lends coherence to an otherwise heterogeneous spectrum, where sparkling wines coexist with still wines under the same IGT label.
