Limone di Siracusa IGP

In Noto, where the countryside slopes towards the sea, Salvatore Giangreco's lemon groves occupy the Mediterranean side where the Syracuse Femminello finds its ideal conditions. Harvesting is not concentrated in a single moment but follows three annual cycles—Primofiore, Bianchetto, and Verdello—ensuring an almost continuous presence of the IGP-certified citrus. This rhythm combines the agricultural calendar with the vocation of the place, within the protected area that includes ten municipalities in the Syracuse region. Here, the difference is made by the land and climate: a mineral-rich soil and the coastal sea air concentrate in the pulp the juice that has always fueled the reputation of this lemon. Not just any product, then, but a citrus whose fame dates back to antiquity and is renewed with each harvest. In the short distance between the lemon grove and the Ionian Sea, one can read the entire logic of a denomination that owes not a detail, but its entire identity, to the territory.
