Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Riserva DOCGCònero DOCGVerdicchio di Matelica Riserva DOCG+1

From Apiro, in the Macerata hinterland, Azienda Agricola Tomassoni Ottavio brings together four Marche DOCG wines without flattening them into a single profile. The local volcanic terroir yields Vernaccia di Serrapetrona, produced in both sparkling and still versions, while the reds of Cònero, crafted from Montepulciano and Sangiovese, contribute the most decisive structure to the portfolio. It's a compact yet varied geography, where each denomination arrives with its own varietal physiognomy. Two Verdicchio Riserva wines complete the picture, demonstrating how a single grape variety changes depending on the soil: one originates from the mineral lands of Matelica, the other from the broader Castelli di Jesi area, both marked by at least eighteen months of aging. It is precisely the discipline of the protocols—the aging times, the precision of varietal expression—that acts as a common thread between denominations distinct in character. The winery is not open to visitors, but its essence lies entirely here: in how four appellations collectively represent a significant fragment of Marche oenology.
