Based in Barolo, Azienda Gomba s.s. Agricola navigates four DOCG denominations, all from Piedmont and all crafted from just two grape varieties. On one hand, Nebbiolo yields Barolo—the pinnacle of the estate, with its thirty-eight months of aging and at least thirteen percent alcohol—and Barbaresco, its more immediate counterpart. On the other, Dolcetto is expressed in Dogliani and Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba, wines of immediate and straightforward drinkability. Managing four DOCG wines is not a dispersion of effort but a close reading of the Langhe: each denomination corresponds to a distinct terroir, and the difference between a Barolo and a Dogliani illustrates how a few kilometers and different soil can alter a bottle's profile. On this minute scale, microclimate and vintage conditions remain the ultimate arbiters. Gomba's range thus becomes a small map of wine-producing Piedmont, where the long-awaited Nebbiolo and the everyday-drinking Dolcetto coexist under the same signature.
