Azienda Vinicola Malaspina Consolato

Costa Viola IGTLocride IGTPalizzi IGT+1

On Calabria's southern Ionian coast, Azienda Vinicola Malaspina Consolato operates within four contiguous IGT denominations—Pellaro, Costa Viola, Palizzi, and Locride—which trace a geography of coastal and inland altitudes. The dominant style is red wines from Nerello and other native Calabrian cultivars: in the more restricted areas of Pellaro and Palizzi, this grape guides the more structured versions, with a minimum alcohol content of 13%. Inland, the Locride corridor expands to twenty-five municipalities and broadens the production range: alongside reds, whites from Montonico and passito expressions find their place, while the combination of the four IGTs also includes rosé formats. The result is a winery that acts as a guardian of regional expression, capable of bringing together diverse chromatic registers along an axis stretching from the sea to higher altitudes. Consistency lies not in a single wine but in a comprehensive interpretation of an articulated territory.
