Azienda Vinicola Vi' Bu
Malonno · Province of Brescia · Lombardia
At an altitude of five hundred meters in Malonno, Azienda Vinicola Vi' Bu embraces a viticulture that the mountain imposes rather than grants: hand-worked vineyards, alpine slopes, conditions that preclude any mechanical shortcuts. Here, the producer has revived the dormant winemaking vocation of Valcamonica IGT, planting Incrocio Manzoni and Riesling Renano, grape varieties that find their balance in the foothills. The result is a range that includes white, red, and passito wines, each marked by the altitude and the light that the slopes impart to the grapes. The gamble quickly paid off: just a few years after the first production, the bottles received a special mention from Gambero Rosso, a significant recognition in a territory where viticulture remains an almost counter-current endeavor. Vi' Bu thus demonstrates that Valcamonica, better known for other landscapes, can still express mountain wines of defined character, where the meticulousness of vineyard work becomes part of the taste.
