From Rutino, in the Salerno area, Alfonso Rotolo manages an unusually broad portfolio: five denominations that intertwine Cilento wine and oil, extending to the wider IGTs. The olive heart is the Cilento DOP extra virgin olive oil, with green-yellow hues and notes of bell pepper; alongside, the certified red and white Cilento DOC and Castel San Lorenzo DOC wines, plus the broader types gathered under Paestum and Colli di Salerno IGT. This plurality is not dispersion but an interpretation of a layered territory, where volcanic soils and coastal microclimates of southern Campania offer diverse environments within a short distance of each other. Moving between strict denominations and more generous IGTs allows for a gradual exploration of the terroir, from olive grove to vineyard, from the restricted zone to the broader area.
