Abruzzo DOCCerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOCControguerra DOC+3

From Cupello, a village in the Chieti area overlooking the lower Adriatic, Aziende Agricole Cirulli works with a range of six denominations that traces the enological geography of Abruzzo. Montepulciano remains the cornerstone of their reds, offered in regional versions and more circumscribed areas like Villamagna and Controguerra, while native white grape varieties yield a Trebbiano with a mineral profile. The portfolio is completed by the regional rosé, Cerasuolo, obtained from the same red grapes in a more immediate interpretation. The Villamagna wines, the most structured in the range, require at least ten months of aging before bottling, a sign of winemaking that doesn't seek shortcuts. This multi-denomination approach is not a catalog exercise, but rather how the company measures the variability of the hilly soils and its mastery of the territory's canonical grape varieties: from crisp white to full-bodied red, each type adheres to different production specifications and a distinct idea of balance.
