Banfi

Banfi's range covers some of Tuscany's most demanding red wines, organized across four denominations. At the pinnacle is Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, a Sangiovese aged for at least forty-eight months, flanked by Chianti Classico DOCG and the two Bolgheri denominations, Bolgheri DOC and Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC. Each imposes its own rules: Sassicaia, a Cabernet-based blend, requires twenty-four months, while Chianti Classico integrates the red grape varieties permitted in the historical municipalities of its area. From Montalcino, the estate thus governs two complementary worlds: the long-aging Sangiovese and the Bordeaux blends of the coast, calibrating each wine for international markets without loosening the bond with its Tuscan origin. Banfi welcomes visitors for tastings that compare these different souls: a stop allows one to move, in the same afternoon, from the rigor of Brunello to the darker texture of Bolgheri reds, measuring how much the denomination influences the character in the glass.
