Barone di Serramarrocco
Salemi · Province of Trapani · Sicilia
From the heights of Salemi, in the province of Trapani, Barone di Serramarrocco produces under the double banner of Sicily, DOC and IGP, offering its wines in red, rosé, and white versions. The palette of grape varieties intertwines indigenous and international—Nero d'Avola, Frappato, Nerello Mascalese, and Syrah among others—in a broad interpretation of the island's potential. The recent turning point has a precise year: in 2001, Marco di Serramarrocco left his professional studies in London and returned to bring the family lands back into production. Since then, the work has leveraged the accentuated thermal excursion and sea breezes, which cool summer heat and temper winters. The two denominations, one with controlled origin and the other with geographical indication, give the company scope to interpret different grape varieties while maintaining a consistent profile. The microclimate and volcanic soils remain the key to wines of distinctive character and complexity, rooted in the specific geography of the Trapanese area.
