Barone Montalto S.P.A
Barone Montalto is rooted in the Belice Valley of Trapani, a crossroads where Sicily has always blended peoples and cultures, and from here it signs two denominations: Sicilia DOC wines and protected geographical indication oils, across a vast area touching hundreds of municipalities on the island. Eight black grape varieties, with Nero d'Avola, Frappato, and Nerello Mascalese at the forefront, fuel reds, rosés, and whites over 12% alcohol. On the oil front, the discipline is equally strict: acidity contained within 0.5%, polyphenols above 100 mg/kg, and those green tomato aromas that are the signature of island extra virgin olive oil. The producer moves with an experimental attitude, willing to test new techniques, but without ever detaching from the authenticity of Sicilian oenological tradition. It is a conscious balance between research and roots, where the production scale does not become an alibi for standardization. From this western corner of the island, Barone Montalto interprets Sicily as a territory to be questioned rather than merely repeated, vintage after vintage.
