Basilica Cafaggio

Basilica Cafaggio operates within a single, almost regional-sized denomination, Toscano IGT, interpreting it in three colors—white, red, and rosé—by drawing on grape varieties that are the very grammar of Tuscany: Sangiovese, Trebbiano Toscano, and Canaiolo Nero. The reference area encompasses two hundred and seventy-three municipalities, a vast perimeter that the IGT allows for free interpretation, and it is precisely in this freedom that the winery seeks its own accent. Guiding the work is enologist Francesco Baldacci, whose ability to interpret the territory has garnered recognition: an indication of how, behind the breadth of the denomination, there is a precise hand shaping each vintage. Here, the game is not played on the prestige of the name but on technical performance, on the style imparted to wines that might otherwise be lost in the anonymity of the IGT.
