Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG

Established in the early 1990s as a project explicitly dedicated to quality in the vineyard and cellar, Basilisco quickly made its mark on the Southern Italian wine scene. The cellars are developed within the volcanic tuff, while the vineyards occupy the most suitable areas of Vulture. In 2011, the acquisition by Feudi di San Gregorio led to the restoration of the ancient lava caves of Shesh, within the Barile Cellar Park. Under the guidance of Viviana Malafarina, the company produces a single denomination: Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG, an austere red that requires thirty-six months of aging and is born from Aglianico cultivated on the volcanic soils of the area. It is a wine of long anticipation, where time becomes part of its essence: the severity of the grape variety and the minerality of the Lucanian soil combine to form a profile that rejects shortcuts. Thus, a single wine, but conceived as a complete synthesis of a place and a variety.
