Battistutta

Battistutta operates within a single denomination, Collio Goriziano DOC, where eight municipalities define one of Italy's most recognizable territories for white wines. It's a small corner of the Northeast where the producer draws from a rich ampelographic palette: Friulano as the identity base, Ribolla Gialla, Sauvignon, and aromatic varieties like Traminer, each interpreted to bring out the mineral vein that characterizes the area. That minerality is not an accessory but the defining feature around which the entire range revolves, from traditional white to Riserva. Each label reaches a minimum alcohol content of 11.5 percent, reflecting both the climatic precision of Collio and the winemaker's measured approach, which seems to prefer balance over power. In a territory where the oriented hills and marly soils do much of the work, the company's task is not to obscure that voice, delivering taut and defined whites that speak more of the place than of the style of those who sign them.
