BAVA Azienda Vitivinicola e di Invecchiamento

In Cocconato, where Monferrato gently fades into Langa, BAVA stands at the crossroads of three Piemontese DOCG denominations. Six generations have charted the course from its founding to today, with over a hundred harvests worked across fifty hectares of vineyard: a continuity reflected in the name itself, “azienda vitivinicola e di invecchiamento” (winegrowing and aging company). The core production rests on three denominations with distinct profiles—the Barbera d'Asti, the rare Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato, and Terre Alfieri—each with its own ampelography and minimum alcohol content set by the regulations. The difference between these wines is not one of scale but of temperament: from the full fruit of Barbera to the spicy aromaticity of Ruchè, and the tension of Terre Alfieri.
