Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG

On the clayey hills of Montefalco, Benedetti & Grigi links each parcel to the terroir that best suits it, revolving around a single certified reference: Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG. The black grape that gives the denomination its name is expressed in the two historical styles of the territory, dry and passito, without the winery ever sacrificing the distinctive varietal intensity. The key to interpretation here is time. The minimum thirty-seven months of aging imposed by the production specifications are seen as a tool for complexity, not merely a formal requirement: the robust tannins of Sagrantino soften, the notes stratify, and the expression of the vineyard remains central, above any cellar intervention. It is a monographic interpretation, entirely focused on a single grape and a single denomination, which makes depth—rather than breadth—its distinctive feature, and which entrusts the grape variety with the task of fully narrating the character of its origin territory.
