In Lavagno, on the calcareous soils of the Veronese area, Benini Alessandro works with two closely related and complementary denominations: Soave Superiore and Recioto di Soave. Both are based on Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grapes but take opposite paths: on one side, the still, crisp, and taut white; on the other, the passito, where appassimento concentrates the fruit into a sweet version. The winery, understated and welcoming, reflects the producer's vision—linear, unpretentious wines built on the minerality of the soil and the elegance of the grape variety. The two labels tell the story of the same grape at two different moments, that of dry and that of sweet, as if Recioto were the mature counterpart of Soave Superiore. It's an essential catalog, seeking harmony more than declared complexity, balance more than effect. Benini opens its doors for visits and tastings: stopping in Lavagno allows you to taste the still and passito wines in sequence, directly experiencing how Garganega transitions from mineral tension to sugary concentration while remaining recognizable in both denominations.
