🏡 Tastings & visitsGattinara DOCGGhemme DOCG

In Sizzano, in the Novara area, the Bianchi winery interprets two reds that speak to the winemaking soul of Alto Piemonte: Gattinara and Ghemme, both DOCG. These are Nebbiolo wines, blends that require long and rigorous aging—Gattinara demands at least 35 months—so that the grape variety can calmly release its tannic finesse and build the structure that makes them wines for patient waiting. Working with two contiguous but distinct denominations means interpreting the same Nebbiolo through two different hilly terroirs, with soils and microclimates that Alto Piemonte separates commune by commune. Respect for the production specifications here is not a constraint but a language: it defines the timing, yields, and character that distinguishes a Gattinara from a Ghemme. The winery welcomes visitors and tasters, and the cellar is the perfect place to grasp this difference: tasting the two reds side by side is the most immediate way to understand how a single grape variety can speak two dialects just a few kilometers apart.
