BICU DE FREMUNDI

Guardia Sanframondi · Province of Benevento · Campania

Aglianico del Taburno DOCG

On the slopes of Guardia Sanframondi, between two hundred and fifty and four hundred meters of altitude, Bicu de Fremundi cultivates seven hectares of vineyards within a total area of eight. Its sole denomination, `Aglianico del Taburno DOCG`, arises from deliberately contained figures: a winery producing seven hundred quintals per year and approximately twenty-five thousand bottles, a measure of a choice oriented towards small volumes rather than quantity. Around `Aglianico`, the reference grape, move the most typical varieties of Sannio—`Falanghina` and `Montepulciano`—flanked by noble recovered cultivars such as `Malvasia di Candia` and `Greco`. This is a setup that tells the story of the territory without forcing it, seeking the definition of character in the hilly altitude and the division of the rows. The result is an `Aglianico del Taburno` expressed with discretion, where the precision of winemaking weighs more than declared power, and the reduced scale of the winery itself becomes part of the method, not a limit to be overcome.
