Patata del Fucino IGP

In Trasacco, on the Fucino plateau in the province of L'Aquila, Bio IN di Marangoni Mirella cultivates Patata del Fucino IGP on soil that centuries of land reclamation and irrigation innovation have made Italy's primary potato-growing area. The volcanic soil of the drained plain is the true protagonist: it imparts to the tubers their distinctive regular shape and resilience, along with firm flesh and intact skin. The choice of organic cultivation continues the agricultural legacy of these lands reclaimed from water, where all nine municipalities in the protected zone depend on the same mineral terroir. This is agriculture that links product quality to the very history of the landscape: without the reclamation, there would be no plain, and without the plain, there would be no potato. Thus, a single denomination, but one rooted in a story of soil transformation that explains every characteristic, from its cooking stability to its ability to store well after harvest.
