Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG

On the volcanic soils of Lavello, in the province of Potenza, Bisceglia focuses its work on a single, demanding denomination: Aglianico del Vulture Superiore DOCG. Here, the grape variety finds the effusive soil that suits it perfectly, but the production specifications leave no shortcuts—at least 13.5% alcohol and a minimum of 36 months of maturation before the wine can bear this name. It is during those three years of waiting that Aglianico changes its nature: the fruit, initially tight and austere, unfolds into complexity, while the tannins soften and the structure gains depth. The prolonged aging is not a whim but the very condition of the denomination, among the most rigorous in Basilicata. Bisceglia embraces this long period rather than compressing it, yielding red wines of dense texture and broad scope, in which the volcanic imprint of the Vulture remains legible until the last sip. An essential, vertical production, built around a single great wine from the South.
