Biscotti Giovanni Alberto
Vico del Gargano · Province of Foggia · Puglia
Giovanni Alberto Biscotti cultivates citrus fruits on the Gargano spur, on the terraced and steep slopes of northern Puglia, where work follows the incline and the seasonal calendar more than any other logic. At the heart are two IGP denominations, Limone Femminello del Gargano and Arancia del Gargano, which share the same landscape of limestone rock and salty air. In the lemon, the Lustrino and Fusillo varieties develop their recognizable aromatic intensity precisely in this challenging terrain, a hallmark of hand-tended orchards where the harvest remains tied to the plant's natural rhythm. It is this manual practice, even more than the climate, that defines the value of the two IGPs protecting citrus cultivation in Vico del Gargano. More than high-volume products, Biscotti's citrus fruits are the result of an inconvenient geography accepted as a condition: narrow terraces, proximity to the sea, exposed limestone. The fruits born here bear the mark of their origin and defend a corner of Puglia where cultivation is still an act of resistance.
