Bolgheri DOCBolgheri Sassicaia DOC

In Castagneto Carducci, on the Livorno coast, Bonacchi works with two denominations from the Bolgheri area. In Bolgheri DOC, it gives voice to the zone's variety: white wines from Vermentino and Sauvignon, reds centered on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, all with a minimum alcohol content of 11.5%. In Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, a subzone in its own right, Cabernet Sauvignon reigns supreme in wines that age for at least twenty-four months before release. The two labels tell the story of the same land from different perspectives: one in its complete range of colors and grape varieties, the other focused on a single great red for long aging. What binds them together is adherence to the regulations, which here is not a formality but the way a coastal, windy, and sunny slope makes itself known in the glass. Bonacchi remains within these boundaries, interpreting Bolgheri without forcing its style, and allows the marine climate and the choice of grape varieties to define the distinction between the two denominations.
