Bordone Giuseppe

From Montà, at the northern tip of Roero, Bordone Giuseppe cultivates these hills, focusing on a single top-tier denomination, Roero DOCG. It is a family viticulture built on two indigenous grape varieties: Nebbiolo, which here yields structured reds that are more slender than their cousins on the left bank of the Tanaro, and Arneis, a crisp white that also lends itself to sparkling wine production. The landscape dictates the method. Among the Rocche—the eroded cliffs that cut through the territory—the calcareous soils guide a maturation that the winery prefers not to force, with a patient and terroir-respecting approach. Aging, never less than twenty months, seeks depth and complexity in both still and sparkling versions. It is a work that rejects the shortcut of easy extraction and instead aims for finesse, consistent with the identity of a denomination that has carved out a distinct autonomy from Barolo and Barbaresco. Every bottle bears the mark of this minute and vertical geography.
