In Montà, on the sandy ridges of Roero, locally known as Rocche, Bordone Giuseppe cultivates Nebbiolo and Dolcetto, relying on decades of accumulated soil knowledge. The family winery translates this experience into four denominations: Nebbiolo, which becomes Barolo and Barbaresco, with respective aging periods of 38 and 26 months, and Dolcetto, which splits into the livelier Dogliani and the fresher Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba. These four DOCG wines tell two complementary stories: the structure and patience of Nebbiolo reds, and the fragrant readiness of the Dolcetto wines. The thread that binds them is the vineyard work, conducted with a precision that starts from reading the soil—the sandstones of the Rocche, their drainage, their exposures—and culminates in the glass. There is no pursuit of effect, but rather an attempt to convey the Roero terroir in structured and recognizable reds. The portrait is of a winery that measures its value by its fidelity to the place rather than the breadth of its catalog.
