Borgo del Baccano

Campagnano di Roma · Province of Roma · Lazio

Roma DOC

Established in 2021 within an extinct volcanic crater in Campagnano di Roma, Borgo del Baccano cultivates fifty-three hectares of hilly land under organic certification. Vineyards, olive groves, and ancient fruit trees coexist on natural exposures, cultivated with exclusively natural soil practices and fertilization. The sole wine denomination, Roma DOC, arises from this foundation of principles even before it does from grape varieties. Roma DOC wines are crafted from Montepulciano, Cesanese, and Sangiovese, a blend of grapes that conveys the volcanic character of the site. Here, wine is understood as the fruit of human knowledge and a heritage to be protected, a premise that guides every agronomic choice towards the least possible intervention. The company's young age does not diminish its ambition: the project links organic cultivation to the interpretation of a unique soil, that of a crater that has ceased to erupt but continues to mark the wines born from it. A recent origin, therefore, but already clear in its approach to the Lazio territory.
