Bulgarini Massimo

Pozzolengo · Province of Brescia · Lombardia

Lugana DOC

In Pozzolengo, on the southern moraines of Brescia's Garda region, Massimo Bulgarini cultivates his vineyards within the Lugana zone. The work revolves around a single grape variety, Turbiana—the local expression of Trebbiano di Soave—expressed in the three tiers provided by the appellation: classico, superiore, and riserva. Each fermentation aims to preserve the mineral tension and citrus backbone that mark this glacial-origin terroir, where wines start with an alcohol content of 11%. This is the portrait of a monovarietal winery, focused on a white wine that has built a precise identity at the borders between Lombardy and the lake. The progression from classico to riserva is not merely a price scale but a way of interpreting the same grape variety through different aging times and structures. In this coherence, one recognizes the choice to interpret Lugana by subtraction, allowing the morainic soil and Turbiana to dictate the character, without forcing or added aromatics.
