Bulzacchelli Francesco

Vico del Gargano · Province of Foggia · Puglia

Arancia del Gargano IGPLimone Femminello del Gargano IGP

On the terraced slopes of northern Gargano, Bulzacchelli Francesco cultivates the citrus fruits that have long defined the landscape of Vico del Gargano. Two IGP denominations define the work: Limone Femminello, with its lustrino and fusillo varieties, and Arancia del Gargano, fruits that owe their aromatic intensity to the microclimate of the hillside gardens. The geography here is narrow—the denomination involves just three municipalities—and this very restrictiveness explains the character of the production. The steep orchards, exposed to the sea and sheltered by the hinterland, retain the volatile compounds and complex aromatic profile that distinguish these citrus fruits from others in Southern Italy. It is a work of conservation rather than expansion: limited harvests, unchanged boundaries, a fidelity to the terroir that comes through defending its physical limits. Each harvest repeats a gesture measured by the slope of the soil and the timing of the plant, without forcing.
