In Neive, Busso works by subtraction: minimal intervention in the vineyard and cellar, so that the fruit and the territory arrive intact in the glass. The four DOCG wines of the house are divided into two clear categories. On one hand, Dolcetto, in its Diano d'Alba and Dogliani versions, yields immediate and brilliant drinking wines; on the other, Nebbiolo dictates the long aging times of Barbaresco, aged for at least twenty-six months, and Barolo, which requires thirty-eight months and delivers structure and longevity. The foundation of it all is the Albesani vineyard, planted in 1948 and still cultivated among the rows of hills stretching from Neive to Treiso: an original parcel that anchors the company's work to concrete continuity rather than an abstract idea. Those who come here will find an ideal testing ground to understand how just two grapes—Dolcetto and Nebbiolo—can define four distinct denominations.
